If you are looking for a way to revive your hardwood floors, you are on the right page. Reviving hardwood, softwood, parquet, and engineered wood floors is what we do best at Brighton Floor Sanding.
Over time, wooden floors gather dust and grime; most homeowners just become accustomed to this, but you can give your floor a new lease on life and brighten up your living space by giving it a good professional workover. Floor sanding is an excellent way to bring any type of wood flooring back to life, without having to remove and replace the entire floor.
What’s more, floor sanding will cost you about half the cost of installing a new floor, leaving your floors looking as great as when they were first installed. All kinds of wooden floors can be sanded such as parquet herringbone, wood strip block, and engineered wood. Once sanded and refinished, your floor will be easier to maintain and look great once more. Our mission is to ensure that maintaining your newly finished floor is as simple as possible. Our flooring experts will give you maintenance and care advice to help you get started. This is our trade, and we have the knowledge and experience to help keep your wood floor lasting as long as it possibly can.

Our Floor Sanding Process
At Brighton Floor Sanding, we believe in using a process that produces long-lasting results. We combine time-tested traditional sanding and restoration methods with modern technology tools to produce a finish that beats the expectations of our customers.
Sanding a wood floor is a multiple-step process. However, ultimately, the goal is to get the floor looking as new as possible. The entire process generally consists of four parts, all carried out by our fully trained and experienced flooring expert team.
Step 1 – Sanding and Preparation
Before we begin a floor sanding job, we first need to empty out the room; this is the rule. This includes removing furniture, pictures, curtains, and so on. They are either removed or kept at the back, out of harm’s way. We will then thoroughly sweep the floor clear of all debris and vacuum it to make sure it’s completely dirt free. Nails that show up above the boards are punched down because protruding nails can severely damage our sanding machines.
Step 2 – Mixing and filling
After the initial sanding pass, we will vacuum the floor to remove all dust and debris. Then, the gaps and holes in the floor will be filled with a hardening wood patch. This wood patch comes in various colours and will blend right in with the wood.
Step 3 – Final sanding and preparation
Here, we will use a belt sander to do most of the hard grafting. Next, we’ll switch to a three-disc machine to achieve a nice smooth surface that’s just right for the finishing. For tight spots, like up against the skirting or in the corners, we will use an edging machine so that every section is touched.
Step 4 – Applying wood finish to floors
Finishing is usually the fun part. We’ll add a layer of shine to bring out the beautiful grains of your wood in the most magnificent way. This stage is also where we add your preferred personal touch or customisation. It could be a bold colour or natural wood oil or varnish; the idea is to add depth and personality to the room. At Brighton Floor Sanding, our floor sanding process is thoroughly clean and outstanding. We work in a manner that keeps damage to your skirtings to a minimum, and we’ll leave your home completely clean when we are done. All of our products and materials are safe for your pets, your family members, and the environment.
How Long Does the Floor Sanding Process Take?
On the average, it takes about five hours to sand a typical room, using three passes of both the belt sander and edge sander. It might take longer if there are several layers of old finish. Please Note: All wood floor restoration jobs are different, which means this time frame is an estimate only. To get a more accurate time frame that is based on the specifics of your flooring project, please contact the Floor Sanding Brighton team today to discuss your project requirements.
